Philosophy of a Knife is to be screened at the prestigious Stiges Film Festival '08. "The festival’s most extreme category, MIDNIGHT X-TREME will continue to base its subject matter on the purest and harshest horror movies, with the most bloodcurdling film in recent years as its main attraction: Philosophy of a Knife, by Andrey Iskanov, an in-depth account of the genetic experiments carried out by the Japanese in the Second World War."

Andrey is on the very last leg of The Tourist now. Today he worked on the final scene which has left the set and cast dripping with blood. Below is a still of the Black Mother on her native planet, filmed in a suitably cold and barren landscape in Khabarovsk.
New review of Philosophy of a Knife and interview with Andrey over at Soiled Sinema
Unearthed films have announced that Philosophy of a Knife will be released on DVD in July, 2008!
Plans are not yet finalised but it looks like there will be a standard DVD release and a limited edition.
More details will be announced as soon as they become available.
The Tourist keeps on getting bigger and better. Andrey has filmed several new scenes, including an impressive head-smashing, the altered netherworld of The Tourist race and a setting of an iced frozen desert.
Andrey’s lastest discovery, Anna Bistrova, is looking very good, Andrey likened her acting to a ”female Klaus Kinski“!
We are sorting out items for the store, which should be online very soon. Watch this space for details on pre-ordering the limited collector’s edition of The Tourist dvd.
We’ve had many many emails asking about Philosophy of a Knife, when it will be released. Unfortunately, it’s now completely out of our hands. Unearthed films have the rights to the film and we have no idea whatsoever as to when it will see the light of day. We can only hope that it will be in the near future, we will keep you informed and any news will appear here first.
Horror Talk have reviewed Andrey’s, A Glimpse of Hell and Alex Shevchenko’s Homunculus HERE
Meanwhile... Andrey has edited around 40 minutes of The Tourist. Originally planned as a 30-40 minute film, it’s now looking like being at least 60-70 minutes. Andrey has expanded upon the theme he started in Nails, enhanced perception of unperceivable verisimilitudes through tumescent cognizance. More soon...
Just in time for Halloween, we can unveil the brand new trailer for The Tourist.
Very soon we will be announcing details of the limited edition DVD release of The Tourist and how to pre-order. Watch this space and The Tourist Myspace page HERE
Filming of The Tourist is now complete and post production is well underway. Details of the limited edition, signed and numbered DVD release will be announced shortly. Extras are still being finalised but we can reveal that two of Alexander Shevchenko’s short films: Homunculus and Burial Ground will be included. Check out the latest promo posters for The Tourist HERE and The Tourist gallery HERE
Filming of The Tourist has gone extremely well and after a punishing 2 week shooting schedule, it’s getting close to completion. As I write, Andrey is finishing off some location shots, including a rooftop chase!
The Tourist may be seen as a slight departure for Andrey, as it doesn’t contain as much violence and bloodshed as some of his previous work, but it is pure vintage Iskanov. Essentially a sci-fi story with elements of horror and Andrey’s trademark other worldly weirdness, if you liked Nails, you will love The Tourist!
We are proud to announce that Andrey has started work on his next film; The Tourist, which will be part of the HalluCinoGeNnN series. The Tourist, which will have a running time of 30-40 minutes, will be released independently by Andrey and your’s truly, through our new film production company, Bounding Goat Productions..
The Tourist stars the gifted actor and producer, Dmitry Verholat alongside, Viktor Silkin and Svyatoslav Iliyasov.
Alexander Shevchenko has completed work on a superb short film entitled Homunculus.

The first review of Philosophy of a Knife is now online over at Carnival of the Grotesque.
I’ve just watched the actual morgue footage in colour from the extras planned for the forthcoming release of Philosophy of a Knife. I thought I’d seen some nasty sights in my time but this just about tops it all. For obvious reasons, we can’t go into any details about how Andrey managed to film in what I can only describe as the closest to hell that I’ve yet to see, but suffice to say, this was guerilla filmmaking at it’s rawest and riskiest!
More soon!
Philosophy of a Knife is finally finished!. The editing alone has taken Andrey 2 years to complete and he worked for another 2 years on the sound.

The latest news from Khabarovsk is that it’s cold, covered in snow and Andrey is on course to finish Philosophy of a Knife in the next couple of weeks. He’s already turning his thoughts to the extras for the DVD release, which is being handled by Unearthed films. Philosophy of a Knife’s running time is around 4 hours and it will be spread over 2 discs.
Meanwhile... Rogan Marshall from Up Against the Wall has written a great article about Andrey HERE
As 2006 draws to a close, Andrey is approaching the end of the incredibly long process of editing his 4 hour chef d'oeuvre; Philosophy of a Knife.
I’ve watched PoaK many times during the last few months but now that the music and effects are in place, it truly is a remarkable film.
Post production is expected to be completed by the end of January, 2007.
